Decision

Posted by g33k on March 7, 2010

You start a day with decisions to make. When to get up. Whether or not to get a drink or to go to the bathroom. Making these decisions are integral to life. Some are miniscule and others are important. How you handle the miniscule determines the manner in which you overcome the obstacles that you portray as the important.

Goodbye Pandora, Hello Slacker

Posted by g33k on February 8, 2010

Awhile back a friend of mine at work and I were talking about Pandora. He told me that he got tired of it and had been listening to this other online radio station. At the time I was really happy with Pandora and didn’t really have much of a reason to try another online radio. Now it’s been probably at least a year later and now I’ve pretty much memorized the playlists and song rotations of Pandora. So the other night I was looking for new apps like any g33ky iPhone user would do with thier spare time and I ran into an app for that other online radio station. So I figured I was getting irratated with the way Pandora just doesn’t seem to have all the songs I can hear on the radio and as I already said just repeats a lot. It seems like no matter how many bands I add or how many thumbs up/down I do it just doesn’t add any more flavor to my stations. So as of right now I’ve been listening to Slacker for a day now and as it is I’m pretty stoked with it. It has the ability to change the settings so they are more popular songs or more obscure. It will also let you choose if the hits are current or older. The setting changes that I made definietly made a big difference. It’s set up a little different than Pandora but overall it’s the same idea. So far the only down sides that I’ve noticed is there is an occasional commercial which is usually over by the time you start thinking, “commercials suck.” The other one that gets on my nerves is that there doesn’t seem to be a Windows Gadget for it. As it is I’m really happy to hear different songs and more current hits.

Lesson Learned: Nike+ 5k Workouts

Posted by g33k on February 4, 2010

I’m not very happy with my Nike+ right now. Today I ran my ass off trying to beat yesterday’s run time. I set the Nike+ to a 5k workout assuming it would stop my time when I hit 5k. It’s also kind of nice when you do that instead of the open workout because it coaches you as you run. Telling you 1k, 2k, halfway, etc. So it announces, “You have reached your goal.” I stop running and walk the other 1/4 mile back to the office. At which I look at my phone so I can see how much better I did. Unfortunately it didn’t stop the time so the average and the 5k time aren’t correct. Instead it added all the time I walked and the extra distance on. Bummer…..lesson learned. I know I did a lot better though because my stop time back at the office was 35:42 Whereas yesterday’s time was 33:19 without the extra walk back to the office. So the moral of the story is stop your workout when you stop running or your data will be garbage.

Robert @ Urbandictionary.com

Posted by g33k on February 3, 2010

Hahaha, almost sounds right. But “amazing”? C’mon I think it should have been “perfect.” Here is what they had to say: The most incredible guy in the universe, end of story. He’s sweet, caring, and truly amazing. He isn’t concerned with himself at all, but instead he’s concerned with other people. He always knows the perfect thing to say and the right time to say it. He takes your breath away and leaves you speechless. And he has a way of making your heart melt like no one else ever will. Robert is so wonderful, it’s almost impossible to find the words to match. That guy is so amazing… He must be a ROBERT.

Pwned on Facebook

Posted by g33k on January 11, 2010

This is probably one of the funniest things I’ve read in awhile. So this kid gets grounded for 3 months because his sister ratted him out about a 12 pack of beer he had. So in return he finds a list of guys she wants to sleep with etc and posts it on Facebook. Best part is he tags all the guys on the list.

Enjoy:

Man Rules

Posted by g33k on January 5, 2010

I got this forwarded to me today. Actually took the time to read it, and oddly enough it was funny too. Check it out:

PLEASE NOTE.. THESE ARE ALL NUMBERED “1 ”
ON PURPOSE!
1. MEN ARE NOT MIND READERS.

1. LEARN TO WORK THE TOILET SEAT.
YOU’RE A BIG GIRL. IF IT’S UP, PUT IT DOWN.
WE NEED IT UP, YOU NEED IT DOWN.
YOU DON’T HEAR US COMPLAINING ABOUT YOU LEAVING IT DOWN.

1. SUNDAY SPORTS: IT’S LIKE THE FULL MOON
OR THE CHANGING OF THE TIDES..
LET IT BE.

1. CRYING IS BLACKMAIL.

1. ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT.
LET US BE CLEAR ON THIS ONE:
SUBTLE HINTS DO NOT WORK!
STRONG HINTS DO NOT WORK!
OBVIOUS HINTS DO NOT WORK!
JUST SAY IT!

1. YES AND NO ARE PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE ANSWERS TO ALMOST EVERY QUESTION.

1. COME TO US WITH A PROBLEM ONLY IF YOU WANT HELP SOLVING IT.. THAT’S WHAT WE DO.
SYMPATHY IS WHAT YOUR GIRLFRIENDS ARE FOR.

1. ANYTHING WE SAID 6 MONTHS AGO IS INADMISSIBLE IN AN ARGUMENT.
IN FACT, ALL COMMENTS BECOME NULL AND VOID AFTER 7 DAYS.

1. IF YOU THINK YOU’RE FAT, YOU PROBABLY ARE.
DON’T ASK US.

1. IF SOMETHING WE SAID CAN BE INTERPRETED TWO WAYS AND ONE OF THE WAYS MAKES YOU SAD OR ANGRY, WE MEANT THE OTHER ONE.

1. YOU CAN EITHER ASK US TO DO SOMETHING
OR TELL US HOW YOU WANT IT DONE.
NOT BOTH.
IF YOU ALREADY KNOW BEST HOW TO DO IT, JUST DO IT YOURSELF.

1. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, PLEASE SAY WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO SAY DURING COMMERCIALS….

1.
CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS DID NOT
NEED DIRECTIONS AND NEITHER DO WE.

1.. ALL MEN SEE IN ONLY 16 COLORS, LIKE WINDOWS DEFAULT SETTINGS.
PEACH, FOR EXAMPLE, IS A FRUIT, NOT A COLOR. PUMPKIN IS ALSO A FRUIT. WE HAVE NO IDEA WHAT MAUVE IS.

1. IF IT ITCHES, IT will BE SCRATCHED.
WE DO THAT.

1.. IF WE ASK WHAT IS WRONG AND YOU SAY “NOTHING,” WE WILL ACT LIKE NOTHING’S WRONG.
WE KNOW YOU ARE LYING, BUT IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.

1. IF YOU ASK A QUESTION YOU DON’T WANT AN ANSWER TO, EXPECT AN ANSWER YOU DON’T WANT TO HEAR.

1. WHEN WE HAVE TO GO SOMEWHERE, ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING YOU WEAR IS FINE… REALLY .

1. DON’T ASK US WHAT WE’RE THINKING ABOUT UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO DISCUSS SUCH TOPICS AS SPORTS OR SOMETHING
WITH AN ENGINE IN IT.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. YOU HAVE TOO MANY SHOES.

1. I AM IN SHAPE. ROUND IS A SHAPE!

Every now and again

Posted by g33k on December 22, 2009

Every now and again I have one of those days. Today is one of them. It’s one of those days that seem like you just aren’t on top of the world and everything like you want to be. No apparent reason. Just is that way. Sometimes I wish I was a drug addict that way I would know how to fix it other than going to bed an night knowing that I “probably” won’t feel that way in the morning. So what do I do? At this point I’m not planning on starting a drug habit.

Oh well, whatever, nevermind….

Posted by g33k on November 6, 2009

Kurt Cobain and Nirvana was my all time favorite band when I was younger. Things change over time. I don’t listen to Nirvana a fraction as much as I did back then, however they are still #1 to me. So many of the songs just capture me. If I was to narrow it down to one thing it would be the emotion in the songs. It’s so thick you could eat it. None-the-less I always wondered what he said on his suicide note. I just so happen to run into it today. So for those of you that have wondered the same here you go:

To Boddah (Kurt’s imaginary childhood friend.)
Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand.

All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guilty beyond words about these things.

For example when we’re back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn’t affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can’t fool you, any one of you. It simply isn’t fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I’m having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I’ve tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do, God, believe me I do, but it’s not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they’re gone.

I’m too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child.

On our last 3 tours, I’ve had a much better appreciation for all the people I’ve known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can’t get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There’s good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don’t you just enjoy it? I don’t know!

I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can’t stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I’ve become.

I have it good, very good, and I’m grateful, but since the age of seven, I’ve become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.

Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I’m too much of an erratic, moody baby!I don’t have the passion anymore, and so remember, it’s better to burn out than to fade away.

Peace, love, empathy. Kurt Cobain

Frances and Courtney, I’ll be at your alter.
Please keep going Courtney, for Frances.

For her life, which will be so much happier without me. I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!
